Types of Treatment
There are different levels of treatment, depending on what stage you are at in recovery from drugs or alcohol. These include:
- Partial Hospitalization
- Intensive Outpatient – IOP
- Outpatient – OP
Detox can be done as an inpatient or outpatient.
What is Involved
Inpatient care is at the facility, which may be a homelike setting. Detox is medically supervised, with care available 24/7 from medical professionals. You are there through the withdrawal phase and begin therapy shortly after, or as the symptoms get better. Your stay may be anywhere from 28 days to six months.
Outpatient care can also involve detox, if symptoms are mild to moderate. You will need to check in daily at the rehab facility and be available if medication is needed. After that, outpatient services are planned according to your individual needs. You can work or look after family, but will have therapy sessions for recovery from 10 to 12 hours a week. You may need to go to Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings, which are usually scheduled in the evenings.
The goal is long-term recovery, with knowledge of coping skills and options for a more positive life, with better choices. The right rehab will help you to make future sobriety a reality.
